This piece by Daniel Rozin has 650 angle-cut pegs mounted on motors around a small camera in the middle. As the camera detects an object, the pegs rotate to reflect light and create shadows to form the image of the object in front of it. Rozin created software that breaks up the image in the camera geometrically so that the pegs will function in the appropriate way. This applies to Rokeby’s idea of mirrors because it is not a mirror in the traditional sense, but uses technology to interact with its environment and with the user. It uses simple objects in a complex way in order to achieve its task.
