Assignment 2: Ranger 1 – Daniel Barrera

Inspired by my favorite movie of all time, Interstellar (2014), I wanted to make my own version of one of the vehicles used in the movie known as Ranger 1. Interstellar is a space exploration movie and when I first saw it, I was fascinated by the design of the ships they used throughout different planets and space in general. of course this isn’t a perfect replica of that ship but for the most part I think it came out alright. when converting into a solid, it gave the front of the ship vents instead of the smooth surface that I wanted but in the end, I didn’t mind as it adds my own twist to it. Unlike the space shuttle, this ship has canted wings sticking out on the side for additional lift and stability. the squares on the top and side represent the many windows it has. the 2 vents on the back are the main source of propulsion and the little circle in the middle is the hatch that one would exit out from. the whole model is made from a bunch of rectangles, and circles with no outside pieces used. This will be sent to shapeways to be printed using Multi jet fusion black plastic.

Dimensions: X – 90mm, Y – 135.01, Z – 22.5
