Assignment 1

Xbox Series X – Fridge
I am an avid Xbox player and when the new design of the new Xbox Series X got revealed, many funny images and memes came out of this. One of biggest memes was, that it looks like a refrigerator. I decided to have my own little fantasy come true and build myself a Xbox Mini Fridge. I had a lot of fun modeling this and besides the measurements being a bit off, I’m very happy with it. Just recently even Microsoft Xbox took it to a new level too and decided to make the meme come true: a real Fridge looking like the console — even Snoop Dogg has one 😀

Assignment 2: Shapeways

For this assignment I decided to be very plain and not have much significance to why I chose that model. It came out pretty decent, despite having the ears a bit damaged.

Assignment 3: Flatfold
I couldn’t assemble it <– this statement is sadly still true even though I have a much bigger size of this flatfold. Its a very tedious work and so its taking a lot of time and patience – that I often don’t have lol. Every time I would get some pieces together and continue building, older pieces would get detached again. (definitely one of my lesser favorite pieces)

Assignment 4: Interlocked slices

This was definitely a lot of fun to play around with, and I decided to do a mug as an interlocked piece. Yet again I’m not good with measurements so this mug is actually so big I can fit my head in it 😀 Anyways, I chose a mug because Ive been associating it with me working on my school stuff. The reason I chose interlocked pieces, which essentially make the mug useless for its normal purpose, is that the mug now can’t hold liquid in it (the liquid is the metaphor for information that I’m absorbing daily). The irony is that whatever gets filled into the mug, will run right through it, like my brain trying to keep and filter information at the moment but having a hard time due to being overwhelmed a lot.

Assignment 5: Raster Image

Theres not much to say about this assignment, it was pretty straight forward and I genuinely enjoyed to work on photoshop and illustrator. The image I chose is a very familiar face: Elvis Presley. He has been there almost my whole life, Ive listened to him first when I was about 9-10 years old and my love to him has only grown stronger. I’m a bit of a fan-girl I must say, and this images I picked reminded me of an era that I always wanted to be part of.

Assignment 6: Bit Map

Yet again a very simple images I have used in order to create the Bitmap image. Florida palm trees always take my mind to a much warmer and cozy feeling. Its hard to describe this feeling, but I remember exactly laying on that bench, looking up and just feeling myself get lost, while the palm trees slightly moved around.

FINAL (Assignment 7):

For my final I decided to work with the 3D Laser Printer and create these two figures that are laying underneath a sheet. I created a human and used its skeletal body rigs to position it laying down. Through two Zoom meetings and the free software “Blender”, Max was able to help me create a cloth animation over this body. The cloth is “hollow” underneath and only gives the imprint of a person laying down. The Adafruit Sequins (LED’s) are sewn together with conductive thread and were connected with a 3V battery. In order to have the lights look in the same direction, I glued the LED’s onto a piece of cardboard for stabilization. These light were then placed directly under the 3D model.
I have dealt with depression for a very long time now, and I have had my ups and definitely many downs. Often times I see the world around me only in black and white and it feels like a heavy cloud/ cloth is hanging over me, dragging me down, making me feel worthless, making me feel out of place. But I know there’s more to me, there’s more than being depressed. As dark as it seems from the outside, underneath it all the true colors of a human being couldn’t shine brighter, the personality couldn’t be more bubblier, more joyful and loving. I guess you could say, don’t judge a human by its cloth.
