This piece hits close to “home”, the story behind it is where I come from, I technically have two homes: the one here in Chicago and the one in Mexico (where my parents came from). When I went to Mexico, me and my family there talked about how one day they would come to America where we would show them around and vise versa. thinking about this, the process to see each other is kind of hard, we are divided by a border, by a wall that separates both of us. therefore My piece shows a part of Chicago and a part of Mexico. In the Chicago section, it is represented by the Willis tower and the buildings that surround it, as well as a piece of the river with the iconic bridges going over it. Then the infamous wall that separates us followed by a piece of Mexico. I tried to capture bits and pieces of it like some of the buildings in Mexico City, small houses that represent “Pueblos” or towns and its many mountains. Using the application “Slicer”, I took my original meshmixer model and sliced it up. it adds a whole new geometric layer to the piece which looks really nice. the sliced version is cut using MDF panels, It almost looks like it’s casting a shadow without having to shine a light on it. below you can see the original model in meshmixer.

Here is the model in Slicer, it looks very different when sliced.
