First off, I hate how this one looks, on both materials. The image I chose is a microscopic close up of some cells. I thought I had enough contrast in my bitmap, but I guess not. It was very difficult to choose an image I could see looking interesting. This one seemed to have the most contrast/legibility of the ones I made. In the future, I would choose something more graphic or geometric with higher contrast and different materials. I almost wish I’d inverted the image for the acrylic one. The areas lasered over are dusty looking and lighter than the original surface of the plexi, so lights and darks are reversed. I also think the bright orange does nothing for the piece. Black acrylic or fabric could’ve been a better choice. I’m sure microscopic images could look cool, but this is not it. Making/editing a pattern out of macro images of cells or an organism could be interesting, or even just drawing my own image to print. I just don’t think I like the look of a photographic image for this technique.
