For my project working with a laser cut kerf pattern I attempted to make a tube shaped container for holding dice used in Dungeons and Dragons. I wanted to create several flat peices that could be joined together and assembled into the tube container by using a kerf pattern I designed based on the different sizes for typical set of dice. Cut into MDF, the interlocking portions fit very nicely to the measurements I made but unfortunately the pattern I designed couldn’t achieve the bend I was looking for. A second version was printed with a different kerf pattern but was too brittle and snapped when bent. In the future I may attempt a 3rd version that uses the the original kerf pattern but is much bigger as to reach the full 360 bend that I was looking for. The first two images show an earlier kerf pattern that didn’t end up getting printed but also show how I imagened the box would be put together when the peices were cut.
