For my final Project I will be studying the patterns we see in nature and how they can replicated using technology and pairing that replication with alternative materials. Finding and studying natures patterns is impeded in the human psyche. We see examples of this in everyday life through architecture, design, fine arts, and many other fields. When creating through design and material I enjoy playing with the ideas of making solid object that are used in many fields to more of an elevated design. My goal was to create an accessories out of different material using natures designed to create flexion in the materials. I later on settled on the idea of creating something we consider to be fashion or designer and allow the piece to have a life outside of its label. I created a purse structure from Wood looking material and having a crystal structure 3D printed for the center. This allowed the art piece to portray solid elements in nature. The inside of the bag is filled with dirt and decomposers such as mushrooms and funguses. The intent of the decomposers is the see how over time the purse will break down and slowly become a new object several times over, slowly stepping away from what society has deemed the “purse” to be.
Laser Cut.
3D printed center.
Glue pieces together
soldering iron to create a bend in the plastic print and wood.
Mushrooms growing ish
Where i would like the piece to grow/decompose.

This is the 3D print outline for the center piece.
