Final project – Cecilia

Before going to my final. Just want to say I am really happy with how this turn out. Not only the physically way but also emotionally. I know I am not good like others using fancy 3D app to create those super cool character but I had try my best and this is really what I want to create.

Okay! So here is the story how I created and what inspire me to create it.
After going through Pinterest many days or so. I finally found the idea of making a light box. I saw those light box have so many design, I came up with the idea to create a design remind me of home since I am so far away and being home sick. I also want to create something that useable rather then just decoration. First step was to find the frame, I went to the thrift store and luckily I found a white frame for only 2.99$, a proper white frame with glass.

Always start with a draft first. I draw the design on 7 poster I bought at dollar store. Hand cut each of them and use cardboard to make a layer between them ( create shadow). Instead of LED light, I found Christmas light in thrift store and poke many holes in the black and plug it in. It was a long and difficult process.

Then I found a picture I took of my hometown and create a design on the app. At first I tried to use Ai or Ps to draw the design but It was a fail so I use Procreate on my IPad to create the silhouette then I export them to AI and create vector. Then lastly I sent it to Shane and he helped me print it out.

The first time it came out larger than the frame, it was 10×10 inches. After measurement carefully, I got Shane to resize it to 8.5×8.5 inches and it fit perfectly.

My classmate said it would be cool if I made a series, like a story out of these. To be honest, it was difficult for me to insert the paper into the frame, like really difficult. I almost broke the light.
ANYWAY. It had been sitting on my desk a few days now It look pleasingly cute. I am so proud not because it looks professional but it made me feel happy every time I look at it
