From my background, I had a strong connection with religious imagery and baroque aesthetics very characteristic in my country. I wanted to recreate Jesus’ head in new contemporary material. Normally the religious imagery is sculpted in wood with a polychrome. At the same time, I wanted to play with the transparencies and shades that acrylic gave me by projecting different lights.
