Slow Design Principle
is a product that I think is interesting. Karoto which is like a pencil sharpener
is a tool for peeling carrots. It is a vegetable peeler and curler though it
looks like a pencil sharpener. This can refer to the “slow design principle 1:
reveal.” A pencil sharpener which we can often finds it in the drawer, but the
designer applied the idea of the pencil sharpener to a bigger size and can
sharpen the vegetable. It is a brilliant idea to integrate the practicability
and delight.
And
it also represents the “slow design principle 6: participate.” The Karoto can
use to make different decorations with the vegetable slice, and it involve the
interaction between the product and user. I like the way the Karoto designed,
because the shape is exactly the same as pencil sharpener, and it can increase
some joy in the kitchen or the interaction between children and adults.
Another product is Method which is create by Adam Lowry and Eric Ryan. It is a cleaning products include bathroom cleaner, kitchen cleaner, all-purpose cleaner, dish soap, hand wash, body wash, fabric softener and laundry detergent etc., they have almost every kind of cleaner. The Method cleaners have five features. 1. Using powerful formulas made with naturally derived surfactants that work by dissolving and removing dirt. 2. It’s totally safe. The cleaners won’t make eyes sting, lungs burn or headaches. They have rigorously assesses every ingredient they use. 3. All the product are made to do something different
to the environmental, using safe and sustainable materials and manufactured
responsibly. The bottles from 100% recycled plastic, and they never test on
animals. 4. They think highly of packing design, so they enlisted
world-renowned designer Joshua Handy to sculpt some of the finest pieces of
recyclable plastic art this side of MoMA. 5. They select flowers and fruits as
the fragrance.
This product can refer to slow design principle 6&4. The cleaners are non-toxic, and are safe to skin and the environment. It provides change to the environment by using the 100% recycled plastic so it can reduce the amount of the emitting carbon. By using this product, we can make our living environment better and more sustainable. Though this product, the designers want to engage and convey to the costumers are it is important to have the eco-awareness and you can protect the earth from puny actions.
